Building Tension

As in a movie or TV show, it’s the slow burn that counts, that makes us clench our fists and hold on to our seats. In narratives, more often than not, we don’t describe the building of that tension, its slow amplification and growth in our body. How do you feel the slow burn sensually? What about the characters feeling it? Describe a particular tension building up?
